🌙 INTUITIVE
“Your intuition knows what to write, so get out of the way.” – Ray Bradbury
Intuition is the quiet voice inside—the gut feeling, the sudden knowing, the unspoken nudge that says, “This is right for me.” In the ADHD terrain, where logic sometimes falters and decision-making can feel like a maze, being intuitive is a gift. It’s a shortcut to clarity that doesn’t always arrive through step-by-step thinking—but often arrives more honestly.
ADHDers are often deeply intuitive. We pick up emotional currents, notice invisible patterns, leap to connections others miss. But we’ve also been taught to doubt ourselves—to second-guess our instincts, especially if they don’t align with conventional wisdom. Reclaiming the value of intuition means learning to trust that your felt sense is valid.
This doesn’t mean rejecting facts or plans. It means listening for the subtle “yes” or “no” that lives in your body, in your emotions, in your energy. Intuition helps ADHDers navigate overwhelm by tuning into what actually matters—what feels right, even if it doesn’t look “right” on paper.
Living intuitively is not about impulsivity. It’s about alignment. It’s a form of deep listening—not just to others, but to yourself.
🧭 The HOPE Trail Map
- Helps or Harms: Am I overriding my inner voice to please others—or honouring what feels right for me?
- Own My Values: I want to be someone who respects my own signals, even when they don’t come with explanations.
- People and Pursuits: Who honours my instincts, even when they’re unconventional? What pursuits come alive when I follow my intuitive sense?
- Enact and Evaluate: Today, I’ll pause and ask, “What feels true to me right now?”—and trust that answer.
⚠️ Trail Challenges
- Intuition may be mistaken for impulsivity or dismissed as “irrational.”
- Distrust in self (from past failures or criticism) can dull inner knowing.
- External pressure to conform may override authentic insight.
🪧 Trail Markers: Small Steps Toward Intuition
- Do a “gut check” before saying yes or no—how does it feel in your body?
- Journal: “What is my intuition trying to tell me about this situation?”
- Trust yourself with one small, low-stakes decision—and reflect on the outcome.
