Staying Safe, Responsive, and Aligned

📊 Monitoring

Monitoring is an essential part of ADHD care — not just at the beginning, but throughout your journey. It helps us understand how well treatment is working, whether adjustments are needed, and how your physical, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing are evolving over time. Through regular check-ins, structured reviews, and collaborative care between your psychiatrist, coach, and GP, we make sure your support plan stays safe, responsive, and truly tailored to you.

🩺 Titration Appointments

During the first 4–8 weeks of treatment, Dr Manaan Kar Ray conducts regular titration appointments to:
  ~ Fine-tune medication dosage
~ Monitor for side effects and clinical response
~ Adjust treatment based on focus, motivation, sleep, and other feedback
~ Ensure medication aligns with your lifestyle and goals
Medication History on Safe Life Guide is what we recommend to track any changes in type and dosage of your medication.

🌿 Coaching-Based Monitoring

In your Life Guide coaching sessions, we also monitor:
  ~ Energy, sleep, and appetite
  ~ Emotional wellbeing
  ~ Daily functioning and stressors
~ Side effects from new medication
Tools like the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS) and app-based mood diary, habit tracker and journaling help us track more subtle, personal changes. The Alcohol Diary on Safe Life Guide tracks your  drinking habit.

Your General Practitioner

❤️ Physical Health

Some ADHD medications can impact heart rate, blood pressure, and weight. For those with cardiovascular risk or existing conditions, your GP plays an essential role by:
~ Monitoring blood pressure, pulse, and weight
  ~ Conducting ECGs when needed
~ Reviewing medical history for interactions or risk factors
This partnership ensures your care is safe not just psychologically, but physically too.

📅 Annual ADHD Inventory Review

Once a year, we re-administer your original ADHD Inventory and compare it across the seven ADHD domains to evaluate:
  ~ Areas of progress
  ~ Stalled or emerging symptoms
~ Whether your plan needs adjustment or refresh
~ How well your treatment is working, holistically

🔄 Addressing Desensitisation and Dosage Adjustments

Some people experience reduced responsiveness to medication over time. Monitoring helps us spot this and respond by:
~ Trialling drug holidays to resensitise pathways
  ~ Adjusting the dosage safely
~ Considering alternative medications if needed
Everything is done carefully, and collaboratively.

🌗 Monitoring Coexisting Conditions and Medications

ADHD often coexists with:
  ~ Depression
  ~ Anxiety
  ~ Emotional dysregulation
  ~ Personality traits (e.g., BPD)
We monitor these symptoms in parallel and titrate associated medications like SSRIs or SNRIs based on clinical need and feedback from you. We recommend using the Mood Diary on Safe Life Guide for a daily mood check in.

Any Questions

Yes. Even when symptoms are stable, monitoring helps ensure your treatment remains safe and effective, and catches any early warning signs before they become problems.
A drug holiday is a short, supervised pause in medication. It can help restore sensitivity to the treatment if effectiveness begins to wane. This is only done after careful review with your psychiatrist.
Yes. We encourage collaboration between your GP and specialist, especially for physical health monitoring. Your safety is best supported when all aspects of your care are aligned.
We recommend using the Safe Life Guide app, Focus Flow workbook, and completing wellbeing scales like SWEMWBS between sessions. Your lived experience matters just as much as clinical data.
