💖 HOPE to Flourish
Brief Interventions based on Acceptance and Committment Therapy
🌟 The Hope Clinic
A monthly ACT-based check-in to help you live a life that matters
The Hope Clinic is about direction, not intensity.
The Hope Clinic is a brief, structured, monthly clinic designed for people with ADHD who are ready to move beyond stabilisation and towards meaningful, values-led living.
It brings together a coherent system of care developed through the five-book HOPE series — exploring acceptance, identity, connection, purpose, and continuity — alongside the SAFE Life Guide, an internationally recognised, award-winning digital innovation designed to support reflection, tracking, and values-based action in everyday life.
Grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the HOPE framework, the Hope Clinic is not about adding more tasks or striving for optimisation. Instead, it offers regular moments to pause, reflect, and re-orient — helping you stay aligned with what truly matters to you, even when motivation, energy, and focus fluctuate.
This is not about pushing harder. It is about learning how to keep returning — steadily and compassionately — to your true north.
👤 Who is the Hope Clinic for?
Is this the right stage of care for me?
The Hope Clinic is for people who are ready to shift from managing ADHD to living well with it.
The Hope Clinic is for people who are:
- Currently open to the ADHD Lifeguide service
- In their second year of treatment
Have already:
- Completed a period of medication optimisation (where appropriate)
- Participated in Lifeguide sessions
- Built foundational understanding and skills
At this stage, many people notice a shift in the questions they are asking.
Not: “What else do I need to fix?”
But: “How do I build a life that feels meaningful with the brain I have?”
The Hope Clinic is designed for that point on the journey.
🧭 Why does the Hope Clinic exist?
What problem is this clinic trying to solve?
Many people with ADHD are functioning — but not fully oriented.
Over time, ADHD care can become focused on:
- Symptoms
- Tasks
- Optimisation
- Keeping things afloat
Yet many people still feel:
- Busy, but not grounded
- Capable, but not aligned
- Productive, but not fulfilled
The Hope Clinic exists to gently shift the focus from coping to direction.
Using an ACT-based system of care, the clinic supports you to:
- Accept what cannot be changed
- Clarify what truly matters to you
- Take small, sustainable steps towards a life that feels worth living
This is not about doing more.
It is about heading somewhere that matters.
🔍 What happens in the Hope Clinic?
What will we actually focus on?
Each session is a brief, focused re-orientation — not a general review.
Each Hope Clinic appointment is:
- 15 minutes
- Individual (not a group session)
- Structured, calm, and purposeful
Across the year, the clinic works through core ACT-aligned themes, including:
- Acceptance
- What helps vs what harms
- Clarifying values
- People and pursuits
- Enacting small changes
- Reviewing and learning without self-criticism
After the initial phase, the clinic shifts into monthly values-based work, exploring how specific values can be lived out in everyday life with ADHD.
This is a guided self-help clinic:
- You are not being “treated”
- You are being supported to steer your own life
⚙️ How does the Hope Clinic work?
What is the structure each month?
The clinic combines preparation, reflection, and gentle action.
Before the clinic
- You will receive an email with:
- A short PDF or
- A 10–15 minute video
- This introduces the month’s theme in clear, practical language
- You can review it in your own time
During the phone call
- We focus on:
- How the theme shows up in your life
- What you have noticed
- One small, values-aligned adjustment
- The Safe Life Guide app is used to:
- Reflect on patterns
- Track actions
- Support follow-through
After the call
- You leave with:
- One clear orienting idea
- One small next step
- No pressure to be perfect
Think of it as a monthly compass check, not a performance review.
💰 How much does the Hope Clinic cost?
Will I need to pay?
The Hope Clinic is about building lives, not billing appointments.
- The Hope Clinic is bulk billed
- There is no out-of-pocket cost to you
Places are limited to ensure the clinic remains sustainable and accessible.
🗓️ When does the Hope Clinic run?
How often will I be seen?
The Hope Clinic is designed to be predictable and sustainable.
- Clinics currently run on a Sunday
- Appointments are:
- 15 minutes
- Approximately once per month
- Sessions run on a repeating pattern (e.g. every third Sunday), depending on your allocated group
This rhythm is intentional:
- Low burden
- Predictable
- Designed to fit into real lives
If you miss a session:
- Please let us know as early as possible
- You will still receive the month’s content
- You can return to the theme the following month
Missing a month does not exclude you from the clinic.
📍 Where does the Hope Clinic take place?
Do I need to attend in person?
The work happens in your life — not in a room.
- All Hope Clinic appointments are conducted by telephone
- You can be:
- At home
- On a walk
- In a quiet space that suits you
There is no requirement to attend in person.
💬 What is the scope of the Hope Clinic?
What is — and isn’t — discussed?
The Hope Clinic has a deliberately narrow focus to protect its purpose.
The Hope Clinic does not cover:
- Medication changes or optimisation
- General ADHD reviews
- Forms, letters, or reports (e.g. travel letters)
- New or unrelated concerns
If another issue arises:
- You are welcome to mention it briefly
- A separate standard appointment can be arranged if needed
This clear focus allows the Hope Clinic to remain:
- Brief
- Grounded
- Meaning-centred
✉️ How do I join the Hope Clinic?
Can I request a place?
Entry is intentional, not automatic.
- Most people are invited to the Hope Clinic by Dr Kar Ray
- If you are interested, you can:
- Raise it during a standard appointment
- Discuss whether it is appropriate for you
- As places are limited:
- A waitlist is maintained
- Places are offered as they become available
🧑⚕️ Who runs the Hope Clinic?
Who will I be speaking with?
The clinic is held within a coherent system of care.
The Hope Clinic is run by Dr Manaan Kar Ray, Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of the ADHD Lifeguide service.
It draws on:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- The HOPE framework
- The Hope on the ADHD Trail book series
- The Safe Life Guide app
All elements are designed to work together as an integrated system of care.

📱 The Safe Life Guide App
A shared compass for the journey: The Safe Life Guide mobile application is a required part of the Hope Clinic. It is not an add-on. It is the shared tool we use to anchor reflection, notice patterns, and support follow-through between sessions.
Why the app matters: The Hope Clinic is brief by design. The real work happens between appointments — in daily life, not in conversation alone. The Safe Life Guide helps you to:
- Track small actions over time
- Notice what helps and what harms
- Reflect on values, people, and pursuits
- Gently evaluate what is working without judgement
It allows each session to begin where you actually are, rather than starting again from scratch.
What this means for participants:
- All participants must download and use the Safe Life Guide app
- The app will be referred to during Hope Clinic appointments
- You are expected to engage with the content provided each month using the app as your tracker
If you miss a session:
- You will still receive the monthly content
- The app allows you to continue the journey and return when ready
The app is not used to assess or monitor you. It is used to support continuity, reflection, and self-direction. Think of it as a personal map you carry with you — so that when we meet, we are orienting together, not starting over.
A Quiet Anchor for the Hope Clinic
You are not here to be fixed.
You are not here to be measured.
You are not behind.
You are already on the path.
Some days the way is clear.
Some days it bends, narrows, or disappears into shadow.
That does not mean you are lost — only that it is time to pause and re-orient.
The Hope Clinic exists for these moments.
Not to push you forward,
but to help you remember what matters.
Not to demand change,
but to support movement in a direction you would choose again.
We will not rush.
We will not perfect.
We will return — gently, repeatedly — to your true north.
This is not a destination.
It is a place to stand, look, and take the next small step —
with intention.
HOPE
You do not need to rebuild your life from scratch.
You need regular moments to pause and ask:
“Am I still heading in the direction I want my life to go?”
The Hope Clinic exists to hold that question with you — calmly, consistently, and without judgement.
